Welcome to Bollington Cross Primary School

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to introduce myself as the new Headteacher at Bollington Cross C of E Primary School.

Having lived in Bollington for the last 8 years, I am aware of how fortunate we are to live in such glorious surroundings. Like many of you, I moved to Bollington in order to start a family. My two daughters, who are aged 2 and 6, love nothing more than getting out and about in the local wilderness (whatever the weather!). If you bump into us at the top of White Nancy, alongside the canal or jumping in muddy puddles - please say hello!

My experience in education, spanning 15 years, is varied and has prepared me well for this role. After gaining a Teaching Degree at Manchester Metropolitan University, I have successfully taught in the private sector, in Bramhall (Cheshire) and more recently in an inner-city setting in central Stockport. In all of these settings, I have succeeded in motivating learners (staff included) to achieve highly.

I feel privileged to be the Headteacher at Bollington Cross C of E Primary School and I am excited about working in partnership with you all to achieve the best possible outcomes for your children.

I believe in excellence for all of our young learners and I will look to build on the fantastic achievements highlighted by the recent Ofsted report. During the last two inspections, our pupils have shown their behaviour to be outstanding. With this as a starting point, there really are no limits as to what we can achieve together. Having met the staff, I can also say that we are looking forward to continuing our school's journey of improvement.

I am sure to see many of you at upcoming events or in the school playground, at some point, over the coming days and weeks. Please say hello and I'll be happy to meet you.

Yours Sincerely,

Mr Y. Donbavand

Bollington Cross CE Primary School is listed in the TOP 50 Small Primary Schools in The Times Parent Power

Our school has successfully educated many generations of Bollington children, being first opened in 1845. The main school building is an attractive Victorian design, modernized and in excellent repair and decoration.

There are three classrooms housed in the main building. A spacious new building was opened in January 2004 that houses four classrooms, a canteen, hall and large atrium. The school has extensive grounds. There are two halls which provide a natural focus for school activities, being used for assemblies, physical education and drama. There are two hard surface play areas suitably organised for both quiet and more active play activities, a large adjoining sports field and a soft surface play area. An area called "The Hollow" at the back of the school contains woodland, meadow land and a pond. This area provides a natural resource for environmental and scientific study.

Our school values are reflected in the curriculum we offer.  We endeavour to enrich and inspire pupils through a broad and accessible curriculum for all pupils celebrating strengths and supporting areas of development.  British Values are an element that underlays many aspects of our teaching alongside our Christian values.

The Headteacher of Bollington Cross CE Primary School is Mr Yenson Donbavand

and the

Chair of Governors Dr Ian Smith.
