Homework

Dear Parents,

Each child will has an English and a Mathematics ’10 Minute Challenge’ book. These books cover relevant content for Year 3 and will support work being done in the classroom in these two key subject areas. Each book contains a set of ‘workouts’ for each term and we will set one Mathematics ‘workout’ and one English ‘workout’ each week. Maths will be set on a Monday, and English on a Tuesday. We will support your child with areas they find challenging.

Homework expectations around spelling ~ the children will be set a list of 10 words to learn at home. We will practise them in school also. Aim to learn between 5 and 10 words with your child.

In addition, of course, pupils should still be reading regularly and writing comments in their reading records. We  will check these on a weekly basis (Wednesday). Pupils should also be learning and revising times tables at home.

Please support your child in ensuring that the books are looked after and that homework is completed and brought in to school on the appropriate day. This is good practice for high school, even if it seems a long way away!

If you have any questions regarding homework, please feel free to come and see us.

Best wishes,

Mr Valentine and Mrs Smith
