Our Year 6 curriculum

Our long-term mapping gives an overview of the learning planned across Year 6 throughout the year. It shows the key areas children will explore and the knowledge and skills they will develop across each term.

Year 6 End of Year Expectations

Below you will find our Year 6 end of year expectations for Reading, Writing and Maths. These outline the key knowledge and skills that children will be working towards throughout the year.

They are intended to give you a helpful overview of your child’s learning and the progress we hope they will make as they prepare for the next stage of their education.

Equipment

Please can the children bring the following items into school each day:

  • water bottle, containing water only

  • reading record

  • waterproof coat

Additional items/kit needed

  • PE lessons - Monday 

Children are to arrive to school in PE kit and will get changed after our PE session into school uniform. 

  • Swimming lessons - Friday at 9 am

Full school uniform with swimming kit on underneath: swimming costume/trunks, towel and goggles (if appropriate for swimming stage).

  • Forest School - Friday week

Year 6 Residential

We're looking forward to an exciting Year 6 residential at PGL Boreatton Park, packed with new experiences, adventure and fun.
